Design Elements
Multi-layered Canopy Structure:
Circular Units with 8m diameter: Using an 8-meter diameter circular unit as the basic module, these units are repeated and grow into three to four terraced clusters. Most of the 8-meter circular canopy columns will have large trees planted on top, creating a layered green building. This canopy structure also organically responds to the “light eyes” of Manfred-Rommel-Platz.
Cluster Structure: Four to five clusters will be formed, each using a terraced design to increase greenery and open spaces. The central cluster will house the Stuttgart Tourist Information Center, welcoming every visitor to Stuttgart.
Natural Symbiosis: These clusters symbolize the undulating Black Forest, creating a symbiotic relationship between nature and architecture.
Functional Diversity:
- Ground Floor: Primarily used for retail and dining, providing convenience facilities, exhibition areas about Stuttgart’s city and industry, and social spaces.
- Second Floor: Used for office spaces, encouraging business and professional activities.
- Third Floor: Set up as SOHO (Small Office/Home Office), providing flexible work and living spaces.
- Overall Design: Encourages a mix of functions, creating a diverse and vibrant community.
Ecological and Sustainable Design:
- Green Design: Sustainability is at the core of the A3 plot’s design. The canopy structure will integrate solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems, ensuring the building’s energy efficiency and self-sufficiency. Green roofs and walls will help regulate temperature, reduce the urban heat island effect, and improve the area’s environmental quality.
Connectivity and Integration:
Pedestrian Pathways: These clusters are connected through diagonal paths and open spaces, forming a coherent and flexible urban network, ensuring smooth and safe pedestrian flow.
Public Spaces: Open plazas and small parks within the A3 plot will provide venues for public gatherings, events, and markets, fostering a sense of community and interaction.
Conclusion
The New Black Forest-themed design for the A3 plot aims to create a landmark that embodies Stuttgart’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community. By integrating green spaces, modern architecture, and innovative facilities, the A3 plot will become a vibrant and dynamic urban space that connects and enriches the surrounding areas.
This design not only enhances the aesthetic and functional qualities of the area but also serves as a testament to Stuttgart’s vision of a future where nature and urban living coexist harmoniously.
