Stuttgart Rosenstein | Structure

Structure

The urban development structure of Stuttgart Rosenstein is oriented towards the overall urban context. Open space and visual references are taken from the existing Europaviertel, the neighbouring Nordbahnhofviertel and the Wagenhallen quarter. Each of the three planned sub-areas – Europaquartier, Rosensteinquartier and Maker City – can form manageable neighbourhoods and independent identities. The open spaces are planned to create a necessary balance to the desity of buildings.

Buildings

In Stuttgart Rosenstein, a variety of building typologies is planned with the aim of creating the highest possible social and functional mixture. The typologies comprise open blocks with commonly used courtyards and hybrids – conventional commercial premises together with residential elements – as well as high points (high-rise buildings) and hubs. There will also be numerous special units.

Height and density

The height of the buildings in Stuttgart Rosenstein is oriented towards the immediate urban surroundings. The area is characterised by a high structural density, as is usual for an urban area. The building blocks in the individual neighbourhoods show a high number of storeys. The average building height is 21 metres. Single high points with a height of 30 or 33 metres are also planned. A 48-metre high multi-storey building marks the new centre of Stuttgart Rosenstein in the middle of Gleisbogenpark.
