A space for everyone.
Author: Jana Langner, Germany
The new A3 building block is to become a space where everyone feels welcome. In the otherwise rather commercial district, non-chargeable activities are more in demand than ever. There are also currently still too few green recreational spaces in Stuttgart. The design therefore proposes transforming area A3 into a multifunctional park and square with a wide range of play and sports facilities. The spacious entrance area marks the start, where a bike-sharing station is to be established alongside a family-friendly area.
A square with several seating areas is to be created in the middle. Below this is a multifunctional area that can be used for events such as open-air concerts and as a street ball field. Above the square is a skate park. This is equipped with a graffiti wall, which can be designed as desired. In the upper area there is a play and sports area which, in addition to a boules court, also has a table tennis table and a chess board. The whole area is surrounded by several green spaces that can be used for other sporting activities and relaxation.
