International ideas contest
Rahmenplan
The project briefly explained
-
The
opportunityIn the middle of the city centre, 85 hectares will become available due to the dismantling of the current tracks after the new central station is operative. Here, the State Capital Stuttgart is developing a new district.
-
The concept
The design divides Stuttgart Rosenstein into four quarters. Europaquartier, Rosensteinviertel, Rosenstein-Campus and the Maker City. An arc-shaped park, the Gleisbogenpark, links the quarters with one another and the surrounding districts
-
The potential
Stuttgart Rosenstein is not only an opportunity for urban planning. It is also an experimental space for mixed forms of housing, productive city quarters combined with art and culture, green living space, as well as mobility and logistics concepts.
-
The vision
In 2019, a concept by the asp Architekten and Koeber Landschaftsarchitektur consortium emerged as the winner of the international open urban development competition and is the basis for the city’s further planning.
-
Urban
developmentStuttgart Rosenstein offers space for housing and green living spaces on 85 hectares. Parks covering 3,200 m connect Stuttgart Rosenstein with the surrounding space. 13 listed buildings give the quarters their identity.
